Sixth Line Presbyterian Church
-
Photo of the Sixth Line Presbyterian Church that served a variety of areas in Innisfil. This building was torn down and moved across the lake to Sutton and rebuilt as a Presbyterian Church there. Before it was torn down Mrs. May Reive's grandfather James Reid was Superintendent of the Sunday School for some time. The image shows the front entrance of the wooden church, with two rounded-arch windows flanking either side of the door. A woman in a black coat and hat stands in the doorway, and a layer of snow covers the ground. According to the Innisfil Historical Review published 1951 (page 123) a log church was first built at the Sixth Line in 1844. In 1862 a new frame structure was built. The frame church was sold in 1927 before being moved., IHS596
