Peninsular Park Hotel
Photograph of the Peninsular Park Hotel, which was popular in the early twentieth century and known as an aristocratic summer resort. Located on Big Bay Point and built in 1886 or 1887 it contained 60 guest rooms as well as a spacious rotunda and dining hall. It was known to attract American tourists interested in taking their holidays in the "wilds" of Canada. In this photo a number of guests can be seen scattered across the hotel's lawn, some seated in chairs and others directly on the ground. The building itself is three storeys and has a large verandah wrapping around the front and left sides visible in the photo., IHS126
Peninsular Park Hotel In The Summer
Post Card image of Peninsular Park Hotel on Big Bay Point. The photo shows several hotel guests seated in lawn chairs in the summer sun. Much of the building's wraparound verandah is obscured by the growth of trees and shrubs surrounding the three storey building. The hotel was popular in the early twentieth century and known as an aristocratic summer resort.
