From Fair Grounds to Splash Pads

With summer just around the corner how are you planning to keep your families entertained in the warm summer months? Well, in Cookstown there is a long history of exciting events, fun for everyone. This summer Cookstown is celebrating the opening of its very first Splash Pad, the first in Innisfil, and conveniently located next to the library and community center.

The land where the Cookstown Branch of the Innisfil Public Library now sits was the center of Agricultural fairgrounds. In 1912 you can see the grounds were bustling with activity for the agricultural fair. And in 1914 the grounds were home to military training for World War I. And did you know that we celebrated  Cookstown's Centennial in 1958 with a parade and a visit from Prime Minister John Diefenbaker.

What kind of memories will you make at this wonderful community park? See you at the Splish Splash Bash, Saturday May 31, 2014 from 12 pm to 2 pm!
